THE FINAL KICKa film by Andi Rogenhagena LICHTBLICK FILM production in collaboration with Filmbüro NW 56 minutes/ color SYNOPSIS On the 17th of July, 12:30 local time, the final of the Football World Cup 1994 kicked off in Los Angeles. Almost two billion people followed this event live on television. The documentary "The Final Kick" unites the most dramatic moments of a final with reactions from viewers all over the world: for example in a Dominican monastery in the Czech Republic, in front of a mega-screen at the train station in Beijing, in the harem of the most famous folk singer in Cameroon, at the fish market in Seoul, in a prison in Minsk and in many other places. Local film-makers, like Mika Kaurismäki and Victor Gaviria, were filming in 40 countries simultaneously for this fascinating, global documentary - probably the most unique venture so far. This sports documentary, unique in many aspects, has been broadcast in 20 countries so far. In 1995, it was awarded the Adolf-Grimme-Prize, the most renowned television award in Germany. TEAM
